Indiana Hospital System Joins the IPC

Methodist Hospitals, Inc., is welcomed as the newest member of the Illinois Purchasing Collaborative (IPC). Located in Northwest Indiana, Methodist Hospitals is a not-for-profit, community-based healthcare system with a regional reputation for excellence. They have been a leader in the provision of quality healthcare in their region since 1923.

Faisal Ayoub, Methodist Hospitals materials management director, said, “We are always interested in identifying ways to reduce our supply chain costs without compromising patient care. IPC working closely with Premier is a good answer to that. It provides the opportunity for us to maximize savings.” Ayoub said there’s an added benefit to his participation in the IPC – networking. “Participating members share the same goals of providing excellent patient care. Having the opportunity to meet regularly with my peers and discuss savings opportunities and best practices increases the value I will receive from IPC.”

In one month’s time, Methodist Hospitals activated seventeen IPC regional contracts ($1.5M in annual spend) which are estimated to provide $150K in savings. In 2007, IPC members reported savings of $1.9M through their participation in IPC regional contracts.

There are now 25 hospitals participating in the IPC.
